Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Because insurance coverage varies by plan and employer, please visit our Insurance & Fees page or contact us before scheduling to verify your benefits and determine your coverage.

Do you offer self-pay appointments?

Please visit our Insurance & Fees page for current self-pay rates and payment information.

What is the difference between counseling and coaching?

Counseling is a clinical mental health service provided by a Licensed Professional Counselor. It focuses on concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, stress, relationship challenges, and emotional wellness.

Coaching is future-focused and helps individuals set goals, improve performance, increase confidence, navigate life transitions, and develop strategies for personal or professional growth.

If you're unsure which service best fits your needs, we'll be happy to discuss your goals during your consultation.

What concerns do you help with?

Services may include support for:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Trauma
  • Life transitions
  • Women's mental health
  • Stress and burnout
  • Self-esteem
  • Relationship concerns
  • Career challenges
  • College student mental health
  • Personal growth

What is therapy like?

Therapy provides a safe, confidential, and supportive space where you can openly discuss your thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

Sessions are collaborative and individualized. Together, we'll identify your goals, explore challenges, develop healthy coping strategies, and work toward meaningful and lasting change.

What approaches do you use?

Treatment is individualized based on your needs and may include evidence-based approaches such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Trauma-Informed Therapy
  • Strengths-Based Therapy
  • Mindfulness-Based Interventions
  • Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing

How long are appointments?

Most counseling sessions are approximately 50–60 minutes. The first appointment may be longer to allow time for gathering history, discussing concerns, and developing an initial treatment plan.

Do you offer virtual appointments?

Yes. Secure telehealth appointments are available for clients who prefer to meet remotely.

Do you offer in-person appointments?

In-person availability may vary depending on location and scheduling. Please contact the practice for current availability.

What ages do you work with?

Services are primarily provided for adults and older adolescents. Please contact us if you have questions about whether services are appropriate for your age group or specific situation.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Scheduling is simple. You can:

  • Request a consultation through the website.
  • Contact the office by phone or email.
  • Call the office for assistance.

If you're unsure where to begin, we're happy to help guide you through the process.

What happens during the first appointment?

Your first appointment focuses on getting to know you. We'll discuss:

  • Your current concerns
  • Personal history
  • Goals for counseling
  • Previous treatment experiences
  • Questions you may have

Together, we'll determine the best path forward.

How often will I attend therapy?

The frequency of therapy depends on your goals, symptoms, and clinical needs. Some clients benefit from weekly sessions, while others may attend biweekly or monthly as progress is made.

Recommendations will be discussed collaboratively.

Is everything I share confidential?

Yes. Counseling is confidential except in situations where disclosure is required or permitted by law, including circumstances involving:

  • Risk of harm to yourself
  • Risk of harm to others
  • Suspected abuse or neglect
  • Court orders or other legal requirements

Confidentiality policies will be reviewed during your intake appointment.

What if I'm experiencing a mental health emergency?

This website and practice do not provide emergency or crisis services. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency:

  • Call 911 immediately.
  • Go to your nearest emergency room.
  • Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

What if I'm not sure therapy is right for me?

That's completely okay. Many people feel uncertain before beginning counseling. Scheduling a consultation gives you an opportunity to ask questions, discuss your concerns, and determine whether therapy is the right fit for your needs.

Taking the first step is often the hardest—but you don't have to take it alone.
